This is a common occurrence while wrestling where the aim of the opponent is to take out his or her competitor. But Zerlentes is the first female player died in the ring. The 34-year old, who was also a college teacher was in a Golden Gloves fight in Denver in 2005 when she was punched in the head from Heather Schmitz. She had been a former regional Golden Gloves champion. After the punch she fell to the mat and never regained consciousness.
7. Piermario Morosini

The Nigerian player died as he suffered a heart attack and collapsed on field, many attempts were made to save him but all in vain. The match was suspended. The cause was later found to be traumatic rupture of the aorta.

On the 29th of December 2007, while playing against Dundee United, he suddenly collapsed on the field as he was going to be substituted. Medics from both the teams quickly rushed to his aid, and treated him for about 5 minutes on the field, after a number of attempts, he was taken to a Hospital by an ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

Thomas Blackstock, who was born in 1882 in Kirkcaldy, was a Scottish football player. He played as a very hard working defender. He had a lot of experience under his belt playing for various teams such as, Rangers and Manchester United. On the 8th of April 1907, this player died on the field doing what he loved, playing for Manchester United against St. Helens, he suffered a vital blow on the head which proved very fatal and due to this he collapsed on the field and died instantly.
3. Paulo Sergio Oliveira da Silva
Coming at the number 3rd spot of player died during a match is Paulo Sergio, famously known as “Serginho”. Serginho was born in 19th October 1974 and started his football career in a small town in Brazil. On the 27th of October 2004, while playing against Sao Paulo for his team, just 60 minutes into the game and he started to show signs of fatigue after which he collapsed on field suffering a cardiac arrest. Later on it was found that his heart weighed twice as much as a normal human heart.
2. Miklos Feher (Player Died during a Match)
Born in 1979, Miklos Feher was a Hungarian professional football player, who played upfront at the strike role. He played for 4 major clubs in his short career in Portugal, scoring a total of 27 goals in 80 games. On the 25th of January 2004, while Benfica were playing against Vitória de Guimarãesin Guimarães, Feher was substituted on to the field and was having an excellent game, having assisted a goal, before he started to show signs of fatigue.
After being given a yellow card for a bookable offence, the Hungarian started to slow down after which he bent forward and suddenly collapsed. The Medics rushed onto the field in hope of saving him, after which he was transported to a nearby medical centre on an ambulance, where his death was confirmed.

Coming at number 1 in our list of player died during match is, Marc Vivien Foe. Marc Vivien died while playing Football for his team Cameroon in the confederations cup, which was held in Lyon. Born in 1, 1975, He was only 28 at the time. He was a midfielder, who played professional football for both club and country. He had great success playing in the French league and also enjoyed an exciting spell in England, with West Ham united. He was also targeted by many other clubs around the world due to his exceptional abilities.
The main cause for the death of the Cameroonian is still unknown but reports claim that the player had suffered with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which a hereditary condition is known to increase the risk of sudden death during exercise. He died in the 72nd minute in the match, many attempts were made to rescue him but all were in vain.
